No Clorox, no plastic organizer crates for today. Just happy thoughts!

Joshilyn is having a week off to rest and take care of herself. Find out more by reading her husband’s updates on her blog, Faster Than Kudzu. Under the circumstances, she’s relieved from her obligation to clean and organize her garage and post extensive before/after pictures. For now.

For the rest of us, here’s something to ponder:

    What's your clutter number?

Wow. I only rate about a 2 1/2. Maybe I don’t need as much help as I thought. Then again, it wasn’t rating my closet. Or laundry room. Or basement. Or car. Sigh. I’ll be back tomorrow.

    • Well, I’m happy to discover I’m only a 2, a 3 on a bad day. Of course, I’d rather be a one!

    • Oh, and is it at all possible to see a bigger version of that picture? Because that’d be most excellent :)

    • The image is part of an actual test that psychiatrists do to diagnose compulsive hoarding. There are other ones, apparently, for living rooms and kitchens. My fascination with the picture is… imagine putting that together? Like, what were the people chatting about who were setting up these shots? Did they start with a full room and take stuff away? Or start with nothing and add? When did they decide it was a “10″? Etc.

    • I’m amazed at the amount of stuff on the bed – in number 3, you could still sit on the chair, but there is a pile on the bed. My bedroom is maybe a 2 or 3, but the chair in the corner hasn’t been available for sitting in for a loooonng while.

I asked my 11 yo which looked like his room – he replied 5 or 6! IMO his room is bad, but more like a 3, with occasional glimpses of 4. Needless to say, it needs work

I love how the picture on the wall starts to be crooked in number 2. I’d say our bedroom is a 1.5. A full 2 on a bad day. The studio on the other hand is definitely a 3. No wonder I can’t get any work done!

Wow those pictures make me feel really good about my bedroom. I’ve made an effort to get rid of all the clutter in there, and I’m consistently about a 1.5 (right now there’s laundry on the bed). Nothing on the walls, nothing on the floor, no distractions for sleeping. Insomnia is an evil demanding mistress.

Now the closet, and the “spare/junk/shoveitintheresonooneseesit” room on the other hand…

    • My bedroom is no more than 1.5, at it’s worst. My biggest clutter-crime is that I’m hamper impaired, and I toss my dirty laundry into a pile next to the wall. Even my 7 year old son’s room is only a 2, and you’d have to mentally replace the trash on the floor with Bakugan cards and Legos… and he LIKES it when his bed is a “nest” of fleece blankets and stuffed animals. We’re not hoarders, we’re just a little sloppy.

    • My bedroom is about a 1.5 most days unless it’s been freshly cleaned. I feel much better about my room–in fact, the whole house–now, so thank you!

    • The kids bedroom is usually a 3, my bedroom is a 4 and the office is a 5. Those rooms are in the corners of the house and have DOORS.

Sending thoughts of strength and healing to Joshilyn.

I’m a 1! I may suck at losing weight, but darn if my bedroom isn’t clean.
